Deluxe Employees Encourage Young Readers
It is a special moment for children when they are finally able to sound out the words on a page and discover the story. Deluxe employee Paul Brown, human resources manager in our Streetsboro, Ohio location has witnessed this firsthand while observing a Reading Recovery tutoring session at the elementary school down the block.
Deluxe employees in Streetsboro, including Paul, have been able to help young local readers by serving as volunteer readers at the neighborhood elementary school. In fact, plant volunteers routinely stroll down to read to students during their lunch breaks. The students are thrilled and the teachers are ecstatic with the extra help.
Brown, who had the opportunity to present a $75,000 check to the Reading Recovery Council of Northern America in 2007, said, "It was really nice to meet the kids. Reading Recovery impacts and represents the Deluxe Corporation Foundation and the Deluxe employees who care about this program."
Since November 2005, the Deluxe Corporation Foundation has donated more than $400,000 to train Reading Recovery teachers.
