Deluxe Volunteers Help Minnesota Special Olympics Athletes

Inspiration. Learning. Joy. For athletes with intellectual disabilities, those are a few of the benefits of participating in the Special Olympics. For Deluxe volunteers, the same words can only begin to describe the rewards of helping with the 2009 Special Olympics Minnesota Spring Games.

As part of our role as the event co-title sponsor with U.S. Bank, Deluxe was charged with gathering 125 Twin Cities employees and their family members to help staff the April  18-19 games. No small task. But through Special Olympics Minnesota information rallies and volunteer sign-up competitions, we not only met our volunteer goal, we exceeded it!

Deluxe employees took time out of their weekend to assist with everything from filling water bottles, to timing swimmers, to shuttling athletes between facilities. Several employees have personal connections to Special Olympics Minnesota, so the partnership was a natural fit.

In addition to our more than 125 Deluxe volunteers, five additional employees worked closely with teams of Special Olympics Minnesota and U.S. Bank event coordinators to plan aquatic and basketball events. Regardless of their responsibilities, the hard work of our volunteers showed. Special Olympics Minnesota representatives thought we exemplified enthusiasm for and dedication to giving back.
